COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland softball will face the No. 24 Northwestern Wildcats for its home opener series in College Park, April 2-4. Friday's game will mark 698 days since the Terps last played on their home field, with head coach Mark Montgomery experiencing his first home series since joining the Terrapins in 2019. This will be the second time the two teams have faced one another, with Northwestern leading 2-1 overall. 

The Terps will head into Friday's game coming off of its series against Ohio State, with Maryland going 1-3 on the weekend. Maryland saw standout performances throughout the series, including freshman Michaela Jones who notched her first career homer, as well as newcomer Haley Ellefson recording another two homers across two games. Sophomore pitcher Courtney Wyche pitched a complete game in their first of their doubleheader against the Buckeyes, recording five strikeouts and holding Ohio State to only two earned runs.
