COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Alyssa Poarch and Keyera Wynn both netted goals for Maryland (0-4-1), but a late Indiana (3-2) goal made the difference as the Hoosiers hung on for a 3-2 win Saturday.
Jen Blitchok led the way for the Hoosiers, scoring two goals while Olivia Wos tallied two assists. Poarch also posted an assist to finish with three points on the day.
A defensive mistake led to an early goal for Indiana in the 13th minute, giving Blitchok her first of the day. Maryland responded just seven minutes later, as Sydney Staier played a beautiful cross from the right wing which Poarch one-timed for the equalizer.
Indiana pulled ahead on an Alaina Kalin goal in the 56th minute, but Maryland pressed in the second half outshooting the Hoosiers 8-6. The Terps' persistence paid off in the 82nd minute, as Wynn tallied her second of the season to draw the game even.
Less than a minute later Blitchok answered right back, scoring a header off a corner kick to record the game-winner.
Maryland will return to action next Saturday, March 13 at 2 p.m. when the Terps host Rutgers at Ludwig Field.
