MADISON, Wis. - Maryland women's tennis was defeated by Wisconsin on Sunday.

- Sophomore No. 89 Ayana Akli moves to 5-1 for the season at the No. 1 spot
- Freshman Minorka Miranda nabbed her first singles win of the season
HOW IT HAPPENED
- DOUBLES
- No. 1 Ayana Akli and Eva Alexandrova defeated Xinyu Cai and Nastasya Semenvoski, 6-0
- No. 2 Zoe Kulkarni and Adela Josefova fell to Antonela Stoica and Ava Markham 0-6
- No. 3 Minorka Miranda and Vera Markovic got to an early 4-1 lead, until the Charmaine Seah and Anna Makarova of the Badgers ultimately battled back to take the doubles point 7-5
- SINGLES
- No 1: Akli went to a tie breaker with Cai, proving victorious 7-5, 6-1, 10-6
- No. 2: Alexandrova was defeated by Markham 2-6, 3-6
- No. 3: Miranda put up a fight against Stocia tying multiple times through two sets, and took the tiebreaker in the third for her first win for the Terps this season 3-6, 6-4, 12-10
- No. 4: Kulkarni was defeated by Makarova despite getting on the board early in the second set 0-6, 1-6
- No. 5: Josefova put in a noted effort in the second set against Semenovski, but fell 2-6, 4-6
- No. 6: Markovic fell to Seah 1-6, 3-6
