
Maryland Takes Home Silver in Big Ten Championship

MAINEVILLE, Ohio - The No. 19 Maryland women's golf team placed second in the Big Ten Women's Golf Championship after three rounds of play Sunday, their highest finish in the event since tying for second back in 2018. The Terps finished with a final score of 858 (287, 280, 291), going 6-under on the weekend.
Senior Xiaolin Tian finished fifth overall, with her final score of 212 (-4), the second-highest finish of her career as a Terp. Tian ended the weekend even on par 3 scoring, and ended with a 4.58 average on par 5 holes. She also recorded a tournament high two eagles, carding the impressive feats in the first and second round.
No. 74 Laura Van Respaille had an excellent day two, climbing to the top of the leader board after carding a 69 (-3) in round two that put her in first place.The Terp was five under par heading into the final round, lead the way in par 4 scoring amongst individuals with a 3.80 average (-4), and notched the second-most birdies through the first two rounds with 27. Van Respaille finished tied for sixth overall, her highest finish in any of her conference tournament appearances at Maryland.
Patricie Mackova finished right on par with a final score of 216 (70, 73, 73) to tie for 11th overall in her first time competing in tournament play. The freshman tallied eight birdies over three rounds, ended even on par 3 and 4 scoring, and finished with the second-highest carded pars at 27.
No. 11 Virunpat Olankitkunchai placed 14th overall with her final score of 217, going just one over par on the weekend. The Terp finished with a 3.95 average (-1) on par 4 scoring, the third highest in the tournament. Her 24 pars over three rounds was the fifth highest out of all competitors.
Maria Vittoria Corbi made her conference tournament debut, tying for 41st with her score of 226 (75, 73, 78). Charlotte Lafourcade rounded out the Terps tying for 52nd, her third highest finish in the event.
