
Women's Golf to Compete in NCAA Championships

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The No. 20 Maryland women's golf team will compete in the 2021 NCAA Championship at the Grayhawk Golf Club, May 21-26. This marks the first appearance in program history.
The Terps head into the championships coming off a stellar season, placing in the top three teams in all seven tournaments competed it. Maryland broke and set new program records throughout the spring, including their lowest 18-hole score of 278, a hole in one by Charlotte Lafourcade (the first since 2006), and a new under par record of -11 set by senior Virunpat (Ou) Olankitkunchai. Ou was a key component for Maryland throughout the season, earning top-20 finishes including first and second place within each event she competed in.
The championship format consists of all 24 teams and 12 individuals completing 54 holes of stroke play, with the top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team competing for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match play competition and the 72-hole stroke play individual champion. The top eight teams then compete in match play for the team national championship.
