UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State tallied three goals in each half as the sixth-ranked Nittany Lions defeated Maryland 6-0 Saturday afternoon. The game was the final match of the regular season for Maryland, who will turn its attention to Big Ten wild card weekend starting next Thursday, April 8.
The Terrapins will be the #7 seed in the east bracket hosted at Ohio State, and will play the second-seeded team on Thursday.
Penn State got on the board with two goals in the first ten minutes and a third in the 17th minute. The 2021 Big Ten Champions would tack on three more in the opening 10 minutes of the second half in the eventual shutout win.
Maryland's goalkeepers combined to make nine saves in the contest, while the Terps registered eight shots.
