#1 Terps Advance To B1G Title Game With 16-8 Win Over Michigan

Box Score UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Undefeated #1 Maryland advanced to its fourth Big Ten Championship game with a 16-8 victory over #5 seed Michigan on Thursday evening at Panzer Stadium. The Terps (11-0) will play either #2 seed Rutgers or #6 seed Johns Hopkins on Saturday night at 8 p.m., in the title game on Big Ten Network. 

BERNHARDT'S BIG DAY
- Tewaraaton Trophy favorite Jared Bernhardt had a career day with a personal best eight goals, along with two assists for a career-high 10 points.
- With his 10 points, he became Maryland's all-time leader in points. He now has 263 points, breaking Matt Rambo's record of 257. 
- With eight goals, Bernhardt now has 51 in his career, tying his own mark from 2019 for the second-most in a season in Maryland history, behind the record of 52 by Mark Douglas (1991). 
- Bernhardt extended his career-record of goals per game mark to 4.63 in 11 games this season. That will smash the previous record of Terry Kimball (1978) at 3.73 goals per game. 
- Bernhardt surpassed his previous high of six goals, set twice, most recently against Ohio State (4/18/21).
- His total of 10 points, broke his personal high of eight, set three times, most recently against Penn State (4/3/21).
- The 10-point game tied for the third-most points in a game in Maryland history. It is the most points in a game since Connor Kelly tallied 10 points (2G, 8A) vs. Notre Dame in 2018. 
- The eight goals, Bernhardt marking the third-most in a game in Maryland history. It was the most by a Terp in a game this season, surpassing his mark of six done twice this season vs. Rutgers and Ohio State. 
- Bernhardt added to his career record total of goals and now has 182 in his Terp career. 

TERPS IN THE BIG TEN TOURNAMENT
- Maryland is now 6-3 in Big Ten Tournament games and will play for its third Big Ten Tournament title, also winning in 2016 and 2017. 
- Bernhardt set a Big Ten Tournament record for goals (8) and points (10).
- With his eight goals and 10 points, Bernhardt equaled his totals in five previous Big Ten Tournament games entering this game. He now has 16 points and 20 points in six B1G Tourney games. 
- The Terps'  16 goals tied the Maryland school record for goals in a B1G Tourney game, also set vs. Penn State in 2016. 

RUNS TO WIN
- The Terps used two major scoring runs to blow open the game. 
- Down 2-0, Maryland scored six consecutive goals bridging the first and second quarters with Bernhardt scoring four of the goals and Bubba Fairman adding the other two to put Maryland up 6-2 with 10:51 left in the first half. 
- The 6-0 run was the 11th of its kind this season. Earlier this year, Maryland had a season-best 16-0 run vs. Michigan. 
- Maryland scored five goals in a row in the third quarter over a span of 7:49 with Bernhardt scoring the first two and the last one, sandwiched around goals by Eric Malever and Daniel Maltz. That 5-0 run made it 14-6 Maryland with 48 seconds left in the third quarter. 

STREAKING
- Maryland has won 11 games in a row this season to stand 11-0, the only defeated team in the nation. 
- Maryland has won 31 consecutive games when allowing 10 or fewer goals, giving up just eight today. 
- Wisnauskas, who had a career-high four assists, has points in 53 consecutive games. The third-longest streak in the nation. 
- Wisnauskas was held without a goal for the first time in 35 games, ending the fifth-longest streak in the nation. 
- Bernhardt has a goal in 37 games in a row, tied for third nationally.
