Ian Martinez Undergoes Successful Surgery

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland men's basketball guard Ian Martinez underwent successful surgery this morning (June 16) on a torn meniscus in his knee. The injury was sustained during a recent summer workout. He is expected to return to action in 2-3 months.
Martinez transferred to Maryland in the offseason after a successful freshman season last year at Utah. The Costa Rica native appeared in 25 games, and averaged 9.7 points over the team's final six games. He scored a career-high 18 points against USC in the PAC-12 Tournament.
Martinez was a four-star recruit according to both Rivals and 247Sports.
