Wiggins Selected 55th Overall by Oklahoma City Thunder

BROOKLYN -- University of Maryland all-conference guard Aaron Wiggins was officially selected with the 55th overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2021 NBA Draft Thursday night.
Wiggins marks the seventh Terrapin to be selected in the last six years, joining Jalen Smith (2020), Bruno Fernando (2019), Kevin Huerter (2018), Justin Jackson (2018), Jake Layman (2016) and Diamond Stone (2016). Alex Len (2013) was also selected under head coach Mark Turgeon.
Wiggins is the 67th player in University of Maryland history to be drafted into the NBA.
Over the course of a three-year career in College Park, Wiggins appeared in 96 games (50 starts), averaging 11.0 points and 4.6 rebounds. Last season was the best of his career, as he averaged 14.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 33.0 minutes.
Wiggins earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten as a junior and was named the Big Ten's Sixth Man of the Year as a sophomore. He finished his career 12th all-time in 3-point field goals (172) and 53rd in points (1052).
