Lexington, KY --The Terps track and field teams competed on day one of competition at the Kentucky Rod McCravy Invite in Lexington, KY.
The Terps set two new school records to get day one started strong. Several Terps earned personal records, including Caleb Dean who tied the program record in the 60m dash (6.73s) and Angel Nkwonta who broke her previous program record in the women's weight throw (21.69m).

Women's Notes

Graduate student Angel Nkwonta set a personal record, and program record in the women's weight throw, with a mark of 21.69m. Her throw earned a first place result in the event.Â

Sarah George (17.36m) set a personal record in the weight throw.Â

Alice Barnsdale (18.22m) and Kamryn Henderson (16.66m) also competed in the women's weight throw for the Terps.Â

Jaida Smith (24.97) and Madison Depry (25.32) competed for the Terps in the 200m coming off of a double in the 60m dash. Smith clocked 7.75s in the 60m with Depry sprinting to a 7.89s finish. Â

Kami Joi Hickson competed in the 600m, racing to a 1:36.98 finish.
Men's Notes

Junior Caleb Dean was on a roll putting his name at the top of the record books in two events. Dean set a personal record of 6.73s in the 60m dash, tying the all time program record. Dean also raced to a 21.22s finish in the 200m, the second fastest time in program history.

Senior Maxwell Myers set a personal record of 1:20.00 in the 600m, racing to a fourth place finish. Kobe Simpson (1:22.73) also competed in the 600m.

Joseph Ewan (6.90s) and Kamari Trotz (6.92s) also competed in the 60m dash for the Terps. Kamari Trotz (22.07s) doubled in the 200m for the Terps squad.
Coach's Comments
"Opening up day one with two school records set the tone for what we came to Kentucky to accomplish. This is the progress we are looking for this season as we make forward progress towards some lofty goals."
Up Next
The Terrapins will compete on day two of the Rod McCravy invite tomorrow, in Lexington KY. Several Terps will also compete in the George Mason Patriot Games in Fairfax, VA tomorrow. Action from Kentucky is set to begin at 10 AM, and competition in Virginia will kick off at 12:00 PM.
