Kyle Cochran Named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, MD - Maryland 184-pound captain Kyle Cochran was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week by the conference on Tuesday.
Cochran is coming off a 5-0 weekend as the Southern Scuffle Champion. The Paramus, New Jersey, native dominated three consecutive ranked opponents in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals all without allowing a single offensive point. Entering the weekend ranked 32nd by Intermat, his three foes were ranked 13, 14, and 15.
The captain amassed over 11 minutes of riding time throughout the tournament including over two minutes against each of his ranked foes. He's now riding an 11-match winning streak dating back to the Clarion Open on November 7. He avenged his lone loss in Maryland's dual against Pittsburgh.
Cochran is the first Terp to be named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week since Jaron Smith was honored on Feb. 18, 2020.
He shares the award with Rutgers' Greg Bulsack.
