Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Donraadt, Donnelly Each Notch Hat Tricks, No. 2 Terps Blast Georgetown 11-0

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The No. 2 Terps (13-1) notched 11 goals, the most since a 2010 game against Pacific, and also didn't allow Georgetown (3-11) to record a single shot all game en route to a historically dominant 11-0 win.

The 11-goal margin of victory was the highest since 1999. The zero shots allowed were a program-best since a 2019 match against Towson.

Riley Donnelly and Bibi Donraadt added to the historic day as they each recorded hat tricks. Donraadt also had three assists while Donnelly added one as well.

The Terps got six goals in the first half, including two from Donnelly, and held a 22-0 shot advantage to separate themselves early from the Hoyas. They finished he game with a 41-0 shooting edge.

Assistant Coach Scott Tupper's Takes

"Obviously, a lot of shots and a lot of goals, which is a good indication that we're finishing both from open play and corners, which is really positive for us. I think overall though it shows a really good level of discipline from the girls. They started and continued to play smart and simple hockey throughout the game. When you do that against an opposition that you might be a little bit better than, you continue to give yourself opportunity and play a nice brand, which was really fun to watch."

"It's easy to get in awe of the 11 goals and the amount of shots that we got, but to give up zero shots, again I use the word discipline. It's very easy when you get a little bit of margin in your favor to relax, and the girls didn't do that."

Player's Perspective

"It's exciting," Donnelly said of her performance and hat trick. "Each game I'm feeling healthier, stronger, faster (after coming back from injury). Obviously, it's a nice stat to have, but overall I'm just really happy about the quality of play and minutes and my fitness being back and feeling more and more like myself."

Breaking Down The Action
  • Donnelly started and ended the first quarter with goals and Donraadt and Danielle Van Rootselaar each added one as well to push the Terps to an early 4-0 lead.
