Spartans Best Terps 4-0

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland (2-5-5, 1-4-0) dropped a Sunday matinee 4-0 to Michigan State (9-1-3, 4-0-1).

Goalkeeper Emory Wegener came up with multiple key saves for a total of seven on the day. The seven saves were Wegener's most as a Terp, besting her previous high of two.

Maryland celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness at the game with a pink out.

Breaking Down The Action
  • Neither team was able to put a shot on goal through the first 30 minutes of action.
  • Wegener made massive saves in the 30th and 32nd minute to keep the game deadlocked.
  • The Spartans pulled ahead in the 37th minute off the foot of Lauren DeBeau.
  • The Terps nearly responded just a minute later off a well-schemed set piece off a penalty corner.
  • After there was no further action in the first half, the Spartans scored again in the 49th minute.
  • Alyssa Poarch recorded Maryland's first shot on goal in the 51st minute and then Amanda Schafer put up a good-looking shot a few minutes later that sailed just wide.
  • The Spartans added a third goal in the 69th minute off a free kick and then another one with just over a minute remaining.

Up Next
  • The Terps will remain at home and host Penn State on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 pm at Ludwig Field. That game will air on B1G+.
