No. 2 Terps Use Balanced Attack To Best Indiana, 5-1

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The No. 2 Terps (12-1, 6-0) pushed their win streak to five games with a commanding 5-1 victory over Indiana (8-6, 1-3) at the Field Hockey & Women's Lacrosse Complex. 

Maryland exploded early and jumped out to a 4-0 lead. The Terps carried that momentum until the end and notched a season-high 34 shots.

The Terps had a balanced attack on offense with five different players scoring a goal. Bibi Donraadt, celebrating her birthday today, led the way with a goal and an assist. 

Breaking Down The Action
  • The Terps separated themselves from the Hoosiers early thanks to a pair of first quarter goals, one each from Emma DeBerdine and Donraadt. 
  • Maryland held a dominant 13-0 shooting advantage in the first quarter. 
  • In the second quarter, Riley Donnelly and Margot Lawn scored within 45 seconds of each other to push the lead to four. 
  • The Hoosiers struck thanks to a weird bounce off a penalty corner with 38 seconds remaining in the half. Maryland finished the first 30 minutes with a 21-1 shooting advantage and a 14-1 advantage in shots on goal. 
  • Nathalie Fiechter scored her first goal of the season a few minutes into the third quarter. 
  • The Terps reached 31 shots by the end of the third quarter, surpassing their previous season-high of 28 which came against Michigan State on Sept. 25. 
  • Maryland successfully ran out the clock in the final 15 minutes of play.

  • 2: The Terps held the Hoosiers to just two shots overall while the Terps notched a season-high 34 shots of their own.
