Maryland-Binghamton: The Series
- This will be the first-ever match-up against Binghamton.
- This season, Binghamton returned 88.4% of its scoring and 89.4% of its minutes played from 2021-22.
- Maryland has never lost to a current member of the America East Conference going 23-0 all-time: Albany (1-0), Bryant (2-0), Maine (2-0), UMBC (14-0), New Hampshire (1-0), NJIT (1-0), Vermont (2-0).
Defense The Early Theme Of The Terps
- In the two wins to open the season, the early theme has been defensive pressure. Allowing just an average of just 50 points, the Terps rank 17th nationally and second in the Big Ten.
- From the field, the Terps are allowing opponents to shoot just 33.1 percent overall which ranks 32nd nationally and third in the Big Ten. Niagara shot 40 percent from the floor, but were held without a three-pointer, while Western Carolina hit 27 percent (17-of-63) on the night.
- Maryland also ranks 24th nationally in blocked shots (6.5 per game) which is second in the Big Ten. Jahmir Young leads the team with four total blocks.
- Maryland just missed a milestone against Western Carolina when the Catamounts surpassed 50 points for the game. Had the Terps held them under that threshold, it would have been the first time in 10 years to post back-to-back games giving up under 50 points (2012-13 - 46 vs. South Carolina State, 38 vs. Monmouth).
- Since 2010-11, Maryland has allowed 51-or-fewer points in 32 games including the two this season. The low total in that stretch was 38 against Monmouth in 2012 followed by 39 against Penn State in 2010.

Recapping the Western Carolina Win
- Maryland earned a 71-51 win over Western Carolina on Thursday night thanks to a career-high 19 points and his first-ever double-double with 12 rebounds from Julian Reese. Jahmir Young added 16 points, while Hakim Hart had 10 points. The Terps allowed just 15 first half points - the fewest since giving up 14 points to Michigan State in 2014 and the fewest in the XFINITY Center for a first half since holding Delaware State to 13 in 2005.
- Maryland employed a stifling defense to set the tone early, giving the Terps a 32-15 halftime lead. Western Carolina shot just 20 percent from the field in the opening period and coughed it up 10 times. The Terps got 12 points off those turnovers, including multiple run-out dunks. The Catamounts' 15 points were the fewest the Terps had allowed in a half since they only surrendered 14 points in the first half against Michigan State on Dec. 30, 2014. It was also the fewest allowed at home at Comcast/XFINITY Center since Dec. 28, 2005, when Delaware State was held to 13 points.
- The Terps extended their lead further in the second half behind increased offensive production. They shot 50 percent in the final 20 minutes and got 13 fastbreak points.
- Through two games, Maryland ranks 17th nationally and second in the Big Ten in scoring defense allowing 50 points per game.

Scott Nearing 1,000 Points; Eclipses 500 Boards
- Donta Scott went over the 500 rebound mark in the win over Western Carolina and now has 505 for his career. He enters the Binghamton game with 951 career points.
- Scott is looking to become the 17th Terp since 1995 to reach the 1,000-point, 500-rebound milestone. Darryl Morsell (1,090 points / 510 rebounds / 2018-21) and Anthony Cowan (1,881 points / 508 rebounds / 2017-20) are the most recent to do so.
- Scott was one of 20 players named to the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Watch List as announced by the Basketball Hall of Fame in late October.
- This is Scott's second year on the watch list after also garnering the honor last season. He joins Jalen Smith (2019-20) and Jake Layman (2014-15) as Terps to be recognized.
- Scott ranked as the No. 49 overall player nationally last season. He has played in 96 career games.
Fun News & Notes
- 2-0 FOR 10TH STRAIGHT SEASON - Maryland started a season 2-0 for the 10th consecutive year. The last time Maryland dropped one of its first two games of the year as falling to Kentucky, 72-69, in the 2012-13 season opener.
- NOVEMBER REIGN - Maryland is 67-13 in November games dating back to 2010-11.
- BACK-TO-BACK 20 PIECES - With an average margin of victory of 21 points in the first two games, Maryland posted its first back-to-back 20-points wins since 2018 when the Terps defeated Navy (78-57) and North Carolina A&T (82-59).
- DEFENSE TO OFFENSE - Maryland is forcing 14.5 turnovers per game which has translated to 19.5 points off turnovers. Just over 27 percent of the Terps offense has been generated off turnovers. Against Niagara, Maryland scored 17 points off 12 turnovers. Against WCU, 17 turnovers led to 22 points.
- YOUNG THROWING A BLOCK PARTY - A point guard with a pair of blocks in a game is in general a rarity. To lead the team in blocked shots after two games is more so. For Jahmir Young, he is the first Terp guard since Sean Mosely in 2011-12 to block four shots in the team's first two games. Kevin Huerter (2016-17) and Aaron Wiggins (2019-20) are next on the list with three blocks.
- MAKING POSITIVE CONTRIBUTIONS - Hakim Hart leads the Terps with an outstanding +60 rating through two games. Donta Scott is +40, while Jahmir Young is +36. The trio are the top players in terms of +/- early in the season.
