MIAMI, FL – Eight different Terps collected an RBI in Maryland softball's 10-2 victory over the Florida International Panthers on Friday night for the team's first win of the season. The Terps (1-1) scored four runs in both the first and third innings to break the game open, while
Courtney Wyche earned the victory after pitching five innings and striking out five.
The Terps got on the board in the top of the first thanks to a bases-loaded single from
Regan Kerr. Maryland was far from done in the opening frame as it loaded the bases again and proceeded to unload them thanks to back-to-back singles from
Michaela Jones (Two RBI's) and
Ruby Butler (One RBI), taking a 4-0 lead.
After FIU scored two runs to cut it to 4-2,
Trinity Schlotterbeck,
Jaeda McFarland,
Taylor Okada, and
Taylor Liguori's each had RBI's and built the lead up to 8-2 after the top of the third. The Terps would add two more runs later on after
Kiley Goff's sacrifice fly and Jones's solo home run.
