TOWSON, MD -- The United States and Canada have announced their rosters for the 2022 Women's Lacrosse World Championships, which will be played this summer in Towson, Maryland and seven Maryland women's lacrosse players have made the teams.
Lizzie Colson ('21), Taylor Cummings ('16), Megan Douty ('15) and Alice Mercer ('16) all earned a spot on the USA Roster, which was announced on Wednesday afternoon by USA Lacrosse. Cummings, Douty and Mercer were all on the 2017 USA team that earned a gold medal in the world championships, which took place in England. This will be Colson's first appearance in the world championships.
Aurora Cordingley (current graduate student), Dana Dobbie ('08) and Erica Evans ('19) were selected for the Canadian National Team, when Canada Lacrosse announced their roster on February 3. This will be Cordingley's first world championships appearance while Dobbie and Evans were both on the 2017 roster.Â

The 2022 world championship, originally scheduled for 2021 before being delayed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, will be the first world championship contested in the United States since 2005, when the event was held at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. A record 30 nations are expected to compete at this summer's world championship.

The U.S. is the top seed for the event and is followed by Canada, England, Australia, Scotland, Israel, Wales, New Zealand, Japan and the Czech Republic in the top 10. Full event passes, for 11 days of action featuring more than 100 games, are
now on sale for just $130. Group and individual day tickets will go on sale this spring after the full schedule is announced.
USA and Canada are the first two countries to announce their roster. More Maryland players to be named to their country's World Championship rosters will follow.Â
