COLUMBUS, OH – The Maryland men's basketball team dropped an 82-67 decision to the No. 16 Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday afternoon inside Value City Arena. Maryland (11-12, 3-9) battled hard, but couldn't overcome the hot shooting of the Buckeyes.

The Terps were led by Donta Scott, who matched his career-high with 25 points, while Fatts Russell chipped in 12 points and Qudus Wahab scored 10.

No. 16 Ohio State (14-5, 7-3) was led by E.J. Liddell's 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Breaking Down The Action

The Terps struggled from the field in the first half shooting just 31.2%, and while Ohio State shot a blistering 61.5% from the field, the Terps scrapped for the entire 20 minutes and found itself down just 42-29.
After trailing by as many as 22 points, Maryland would cut the Buckeye lead to 11 after a three-pointer from Eric Ayala, but that's as close as the team would get as Liddell and Ohio State squashed the comeback attempt.

Double-Figure Update

Scott (25 points) scored in double-figures for the 15th time this season and 38th time in his career.
Russell (11 points) hit double-figures for the 18th time this season and 94th time in his career.
Wahab (10 points) scored in double figures for the 10th time as a Terp and 32nd time in his career.

Eyes on Ayala

Ayala's eight points now gives him 1348 for his career, good for 27th all-time in program history.
The senior now trails Tony Massenburg's 1354 which was scored between 1985 and 1990
Ayala also knocked down two three-pointers, giving him 206, tying him with his former backcourt mate Anthony Cowan Jr. for third all-time in program history.
