Field Hockey Releases Spring Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland field hockey head coach Missy Meharg announced the program's 2022 spring schedule, which includes five weekends of competition in March and April.
Maryland enters the 2022 spring season after earning its 33rd NCAA Tournament bid. The Terps finished the season at home, defeating Virginia and Syracuse in the NCAA First Round and Quarterfinals to go to their 20th Final Four.
"Playing in competitive seasons in back to back semesters last year was an enormous learning opportunity," Meharg said. "We need to recreate that level of outside competition and push the bar this spring."
The Terps will play in the Big Apple Indoor Tournament March 12-13 in Spring City, Pa. They will host Penn State and American in College Park on April 2 before facing Princeton, Syracuse and Penn at Princeton on April 10. The Terrapins will host James Madison and Old Dominion in College Park April 16 and an alumnae weekend April 24.
"Competition starts with indoor at the Big Apple Indoor Tournament," Meharg said. "Playing traditional powers like Penn State, Syracuse, Princeton, American, Old Dominion, James Madison and Penn will appropriately test our group and give us a gauge of where we are.
"With several Terps in the final selection stages for the FIH Junior World Cup April 3-13 in South Africa, we will most likely be small and mighty for the April 2 and April 10 competition weekends. This will serve very well for depth, experience and fitness. We look forward to closing out our spring season at home on Sunday, April 24 with our Alumnae Team, which could be one of our best tests…they are 'Best of the BEST' Terps forever."
Maryland enters the 2022 spring after earning a 21st consecutive NCAA Tournament berth in 2021. The Terps finished the season 12-4-2 and will return four All-Big Ten selections in 2022.
