Five Terps Selected as Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-Americans

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Five members of the No. 8 Maryland women's lacrosse team were selected as Midseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse, the publication announced Thursday. 
 
Defender Abby Bosco was named a first team selection, attacker Aurora Cordingley and goalie Emily Sterling were selected as second team selections and midfielder Shaylan Ahearn and attacker Hannah Leubecker were recognized with honorable mention distinction. 
 
The Terps have the most all-americans on the list of any Big Ten school.
 
Bosco has been the leader of the Maryland defense through 10 games, which is allowing only 7.60 goals per game, the second-best mark in the country. The graduate transfer ranks seventh in the country and leads the Big Ten, averaging 3.30 groundballs per game. Bosco also leads the Terps with 13 caused turnovers and stands second with 41 draw controls. The Suffern, NY native has a groundball in every game this season and has at least three in eight-of-10 games.
 
Cordingley has electrified the Maryland offense as one of the best attackers in the nation, leading the NCAA with 6.80 points per game. The graduate transfer leads the Terps with 38 goals, 30 assists and 68 points and is on pace to break the Maryland single season assist and points records. Cordingley has four games with over eight points this season, was twice named the IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week and four times named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. She is shooting 62.3-percent on the season, the ninth best mark in the nation.
 
Sterling has been a brick wall in goal for the Terps, helping lead the second-ranked defense in the nation, only allowing 7.60 goals per game. The goalie stands third in the nation in goals against average at 7.54 and fifth in the nation in save percentage at 52.7%. Sterling has over a 50-percent save percentage in five games this season and also has over eight saves in five different games. 
 
Ahearn has led the Maryland draw efforts all season, winning 57-percent of all draw controls, good for 14th in the nation. The junior leads the Terps and stands fourth in the Big Ten with 51 draw controls and has two games with 10-plus draws, including 14 in a resounding 18-8 win over No. 7 Florida. Ahearn also has five goals and two assists on the season.
 
Leubecker has 31 goals and six assists to help lead a Maryland offense that is fifth in the nation and first in the Big Ten, averaging 16.20 goals per game. The junior attacker has at least a hat-trick in seven games this season and has led Maryland in goals in five different games. Leubecker is fifth in the Big Ten in goals and sixth in points. She also has five groundballs, three caused turnovers and three draw controls.
 
Maryland (9-1) will be back in action on Saturday at No. 20 Johns Hopkins at 12:00 p.m. with the game airing for a national audience on ESPNU.
