COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland wrestlers learned their seedings and paths through the brackets for the 2022 NCAA Championships on Monday.Â
Kyle Cochran leads the group with a 13-seed after winning over twenty bouts and placing sixth at the Big Ten Tournament.
Jaron Smith follows behind him as the 25-seed and
Dominic Solis will be the 32-seed. The trio will all be making their first appearances. Solis and Smith are now the first Maryland natives to represent the Terps at the NCAA Tournament since Alfred Bannister.Â
Cochran's first round match will be against Rutgers' John Poznanski, who he has beaten twice already this season including last weekend at the Big Ten Championships. Solis' first bout is also against a Scarlet Knight, Conor O'Neil, who Solis defeated by major decision in the dual earlier this season. Smith's first match comes against Binghamton's Lou Deprez.
The most qualifiers under head coachÂ
Alex Clemsen and staff, this comes after a weekend of similar accomplishments. The Terps recorded their highest team point total and their highest team race finish since 2018 this past weekend. Cochran was the team's highest individual placer since 2019.Â
