MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- Maryland softball continued its best start in Big Ten Conference play to begin a season with a 4-3 rubber match victory at Minnesota to win the weekend series. The Terps moved to 26-19 overall and 12-5 in the Big Ten. With 12 conference wins (in a non-COVID season), the Terps have their most wins in a conference season since 2013, when they went 13-8 in the ACC. The 12 wins are the fourth-most in the Big Ten and just two shy of conference leader Northwestern (14-2).
The Terps rallied from being down 3-2 with two runs in the top of the seventh inning as
Katie Dustin's sacrifice fly brought home two runs to put the Terps ahead 4-3. Starting pitcher
Courtney Wyche completed her second win as many days by inducing the Gophers' best hitter Natalie Denhartog to ground back to the mound with two runners on as Wyche threw to
Regan Kerr to complete the sersies win for the Terps.
Wyche pitched all seven innings, allowing just seven hits and three runs (one unearned), striking out a total of seven Gophers. Wyche pitched a total of 14 innings on the weekend, tallying two wins.
Merissa Borkowski and
Kiley Goff lead the way for the Terps at the plate with two hits each.

- Maryland got on the board in the top of the second with an RBI single from Goff, bringing in Michaela Jones after a single of her own put her on base. The run tied things up between the Terps and the Gophers at one-a-piece
