ANNAPOLIS, MD -- Maryland battled back from a quick Navy goal to force a tie on Thursday night at Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
Navy scored just over a minute into the game, but Maryland answered in the 15th minute when Kam Fisher found the back of the net. The goal was Fisher's first as a Terrapin. Mikayla Dayes recorded the assist on the play, the ninth of her career.
The two teams were deadlocked for the remainder of the game and the Terps earned their second consecutive tie. Mia Issac and Amanda Schafer both had opportunities to put the Terps ahead in the 84th and 87th minute, respectively, but Mattie Gallagher made the save for Navy both times.
Dayes and Schafer led the Terps with four shots each.
Coach Nezmer's Take
"I think these players have a lot of character. They have a lot of pride in Maryland soccer and I know they have a lot of passion. The biggest thing is can we get the lead and keep it? We're working on that and I will say this has been the best week of training we've had. And I have been seeing one percent better (each day). That's sort of our mentality right now. The response has been good, but we need to make sure we're sharp from minute one."
