College Park, MD -- Maryland women's soccer senior Maddie Smith, has been named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week, the Conference announced Tuesday.
Smith, who received her first conference honor, has played all 450 minutes in goal for the Terps in the opening five games of the 2022 campaign. Maddie Smith logged a career and season high in saves with nine, leading the Terps to a 1-1 tie against #17 Georgetown. Smith then logged her first 90 minute shutout with Maryland with a 3-0 win over George Mason on Sunday. Smith finished the weekend with 10 saves on 18 shots faced, surrendering just one goal. She is the first Terp to win the goalkeeper of the week honor since October 22, 2019 (Erin Seppi).Â
Maryland women's soccer will return to action this week with a pair of home games, hosting Wake Forest on Thursday (9/8) at Ludwig at 7 pm. The Terps will go on to face Saint Joseph's on Sunday (9/11) at 1 pm for senior day.
