COLLEGE PARK, Md. -  The No. 14 Maryland men's soccer team plays its second rivalry match of the week Saturday afternoon against No. 21 Georgetown. Kickoff from Shaw Field is set for 1 p.m., and fans can watch the action on Flo FC.
 THIS WEEK'S STORYLINES
  • Two of the best programs in college soccer face off Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C. The two teams won back-to-back national titles in the past decade, with Georgetown winning in 2019 after the Terps took home the crown in 2018. Georgetown won the matchup 1-0 last season.
  • The Terps rebounded from a loss to then No. 20 Denver with a resounding 6-1 win over Virginia in the Battle for the DMV at Audi Field on Labor Day. It was Maryland's highest goal output since 2012 and most goals against UVA since 1975.
  • Maryland began its 2022 season with a 2-1 win over No. 9 New Hampshire on opening night. Hunter George's first half volley put the Terps up 1-0 before Colin Griffith's first career goal in the second half proved to be the difference. The Terps held on to win, despite a late Wildcats goal, handing New Hampshire its first regular season loss since November of 2019.
  • The Terps followed up with a 1-1 draw against Liberty. William Kulvik scored his first career goal to level the match in the first half. Kulvik earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors.
  • Students can sign up for The Crew here. Only students signed up for the The Crew will be eligible to pick of Crew scarves later in the season.

30 Seasons of Sasho
  • Hall of Fame head coach Sasho Cirovski is on the sidelines for his 30th season as the head coach of the Terps. Cirovski has led the Terps to a trio of national titles (2005, 2008, 2018) and 11 conference titles.
  • Cirovski's 29 NCAA Tournament appearances rank him first in the history of NCAA Division I soccer (27 at Maryland, two at Hartford). He has guided the Terps to nine appearances in the College Cup.
  • The star players that have come through College Park during Cirovski's tenure is a list unmatched in college soccer. He has produced 12 full USA internationals and made Maryland the only school with alums in the last four FIFA Men's World Cups.
  • Maryland will celebrate 30 season of Sasho on Oct. 14 against Wisconsin. The match will be played on Cirovski's birthday.
