Maryland Sets Season High Team Score But Falls To Spartans In Home Opener

College, Park, MD -- Maryland set a season-high team score but fell to No. 12 Michigan State in a 196.950 - 196.425 defeat in XFINITY Center. The Terps were supported by a loud home crowd and responded posting season-high team event scores on both bars (49.350) and beam (49.075).
The Terps began the meet with a positive rotation on vault as three Terps, Reese McClure, Emma Silberman and Alexsis Rubio posted scores 9.825. Maryland rode this momentum to their best bars rotation of 2023, as both Aleka Tsiknias and Sierra Kondo earned a meet high 9.900 on the event. Emma Silberman (9.850) and Rhea LeBlanc (9.825) contributed heavily on bars as well both setting their season high. Silberman also shined on beam recording a team high 9.850. McClure and the Terps closed the meet as the Senior continued to perform well on the mat receiving a 9.850. Silberman tied for third in the all-around finishing with a 39.325.
Maryland will go back on the road as they travel to Columbus for a 2 p.m. matchup with Ohio State on Sunday, Feb. 5. The Meet will be available on B1G+ and admission is free.
