Five Pro Terps Open 2023-24 NBA Season on Wednesday Night

Five former Maryland men's basketball standouts will be begin the 2023-24 NBA season on Wednesday night along with the majority of the league. Read below for updates on each and Click HERE to see the full NBA schedule for this week along with how you can follow along!
 

BRUNO FERNANDO – ATLANTA HAWKS

Wednesday, Oct. 25 - at Charlotte Hornets
Friday, Oct. 27 - vs. New York Knicks
Sunday, Oct. 29 - at Milwaukee Bucks

 
Fernando did not play in the series opener against Boston. He played in eight games during the regular season with the Hawks since being traded to Atlanta from Houston. He's averaged 3.4 points and just under two rebounds in five minutes per game. In his last regular-season game at Boston, Fernando posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds while going 8-of-11 from the floor.

KEVIN HUERTER / ALEX LEN – SACRAMENTO KINGS

Wednesday, Oct. 25 - at Utah Jazz
Friday, Oct. 27 - vs. Golden State Warriors
Sunday, Oct. 29 - vs. Los Angeles Lakers


Huerter and Len were terrific for the Kings last season leading Sacramento to the NBA playoffs. Huerter finished the 2002-23 season, his fifth in the league, averaging a career-high 15.2 points on 40.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Len completed his 14th NBA season last year averaging 1.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 26 games. He was a key reserve for the Kings down the stretch of the regular season and in the playoffs.
 


  

JALEN SMITH – INDIANA PACERS

Wednesday, Oct. 25 - vs. Washington Wizards
Saturday, Oct. 28 - at Cleveland Cavaliers

 
Smith was a key figure for Indiana in his fifth NBA season where he averaged 9.4 points and 5.8 rebounds for the Pacers. He started 31 of 68 games played and is now averaging 8.0 points and 5.1 rebounds over his professional career.

AARON WIGGINS – OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER

Wednesday, Oct. 25 - at Chicago Bulls
Friday, Oct. 27 - at Cleveland Cavaliers
Sunday, Oct. 29 - vs. Denver Nuggets


Wiggins played a career-high 70 games for the Thunder in his second NBA season. He averaged 6.8 points and 3.0 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game.
