Maryland Opens Big Ten Play With Loss At Indiana

Box Score BLOOMINGTON, IN – Maryland lost its Big Ten Conference opener against Indiana, 65-53, Friday night at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. 
 
Jahmir Young led the Terps with 20 points and Julian Reese joined him in double figures with 14 points and team-best eight boards.
 
Maryland drops to 4-4 and 0-1 in the Big Ten.
 
Kel'el Ware paced Indiana with 18 points and 14 boards, while three other Hoosiers scored in double figures. Indiana improves to 6-1 with a 1-0 Big Ten standing.

  • After scoring two points, Donta Scott increased his career total to 1,394 points and inched closer to No. 23 on Maryland's all-time scoring list, a spot occupied by Dez Wells (1,398, 2012-15). 
  • Scott grabbed three rebounds to increase his career total to 737 rebounds. He now needs eight to pass No. 12 on the list, the legendary Len Bias, who had 745 from 1982-86. 
  • Scott played in his 137th career game as a Terp and is now tied for sixth most in program history alongside Mike Mardesich (1997-01). Scott also started his 122nd career game which ranks sixth-most in program history.
