PHILADELPHIA, PA --Â No. 6 Maryland (2-1) jumped all over Drexel (2-2) early, taking a 7-1 lead after the first quarter, and ultimately came away with a 15-9 victory on Tuesday afternoon at Vidas Field in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Cathy Reese. "We are trying to get better every day and every game. We shot a lot better today. Shay (Ahearn) did an awesome job on the draw, that was huge for us today. Defensively, we're making progress with our young group, trying to get all our different faces on the same page. Happy to come out of Philly with a win."Â
Libby May (6G) and Hannah Leubecker (4G, 1A) led the way for the Terps offensively. Shaylan Ahearn added a pair of goals and a career-high tying 14 draw controls for her fifth career game with double-figure draw controls. Eloise Clevenger, Victoria Hensh and Kori Edmondson each notched a goal to round out the scoring for Maryland.
Emily Sterling made six saves in goal.Â
Breaking Down The Action
- The Terps scored the first five goals of the game and led 7-1 at the end of the first quarter. Shaylan Ahearn and Libby May each scored twice in the frame.
- Drexel outscored the Terps 3-1 in the second to make it a 8-4 game at halftime.
