- Maryland is 2-1 on the season, coming off a 15-9 win over Drexel, led by a combined 10 goals from Libby May (six) and Hannah Leubecker (four) and a career-best 14 draw controls from Shaylan Ahearn.
- Maryland is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation in both polls, led by reigning IWLCA National Goaltender of the Year Emily Sterling and Big Ten Defender of the Year Abby Bosco as well as two-time All-American attacker Hannah Leubecker and a plethora of All-Big Ten performers: midfielder Shaylan Ahearn, attacker Libby May and defender Maddie Sanchez.
- The Terps are coming off a season where they won both the Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament Championships and made their 12th Final Four in 13 seasons. Maryland finished the 2022 season with a 19-2 record.

50th Season of maryland women's lacrosse
- The 2023 season will be the 50th season of Maryland women's lacrosse, a program that has been the most successful in the entire sport since its start.
- Maryland has won 15 national championships and 31 conference championships. The Terps have participated in 28 Final Fours, including 12 of the last 13 and have won 12 of the last 28 national championships, including seven-straight from 1995-2001. Maryland has an all-time program record of 764-147-3 through 49 seasons.

sterling saves
- Emily Sterling returns as the National Goalkeeper of the Year to backline the Maryland defense in 2023. She finished the year second in the nation in both save percentage (.531) and goals against average (7.87) and had the highest save percentage ever in Big Ten play at .626.
- Sterling was also the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year, an IWLCA First Team All-American, a Tewaaraton nominee, First Team All-Big Ten selection, a four-time National Player of the Week and five-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. The senior was chosen as the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason National Goaltender of the Year.
- The senior picked up right where she left off in the season opener against Saint Joseph's, notching eight saves to only three goals allowed, a 727 save percentage, the best in the Big Ten in Week One.

- In Tuesday's game against Drexel, Shaylan Ahearn became only the sixth Terp in program history to surpass the 200 career draw control mark with 14, now standing at 204 in her career. Ahearn is now only one behind Dana Dobbie (2007-08) for fifth all-time in Maryland history.
- Ahearn tallied 115 draw controls last season, the eighth-most in a single season in program history.

- Reese and the Terps added one of the top transfers out of the portal for the 2023 season in 2022 Ivy League Defender of the Year Marge Donovan. The grad student was the Ivy League Defender of the Year, a Third Team IWLCA All-American, a First-Team All-Ivy selection and the Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2022 as she graduated as Princeton's all-time leader in career draw controls (214) and draws in a season (112 in 2022).
- Maryland also welcomes the nation's top freshmen class, highlighted by the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 Class, midfielder Kori Edmondson. The class also features top-10 ranked signees Jaylen Rosga and Maggie Weisman.

- Head Coach Cathy Reese enters her 17th season at the helm of Maryland women's lacrosse. The winningest coach in program history, Reese is 304-35 as head coach and has led the Terps to five National Championships, 12 Final Fours and 22 Conference Championships.
- Maryland is 160-5 at home under Reese, with nine undefeated home campaigns in the last 11 seasons (2013, '14, '15, '16, '17, '18, '19, '21).

history vs. florida
- This will be the ninth all-time meeting between Maryland and Florida, with the Terps and Gators meeting for six-straight seasons from 2015-20 and twice last season, two 10+-goal Terp wins including an 18-5 win in the NCAA Quarterfinals to reach their 12th Final Four in 13 seasons.
- Libby May scored a team-best five goals, her third game in a row with five goals. Victoria Hensh tallied a career-high tying three goals for the Terps. Aurora Cordingley and Hannah Leubecker each scored three as well. In goal, Emily Sterling made eight saves. Shaylan Ahearn was great on the draw, winning 10. Defender Abby Bosco led the team with two caused turnovers and had four groundballs.
- The Terps have never lost to Florida in Gainesville, standing at 3-0 all-time. The last time the Terps and Gators met in Florida, head coach Cathy Reese picked up her 250th win at Maryland in a 17-12 win on February 14, 2019.
