COLLEGE PARK, Md. - No. 25 Maryland gymnastics hits the road and returns to action as they take on Temple, Towson, and West Chester at the Temple Quad in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Thursday, March 2 at 4 p.m. The meet will be available on ESPN+ and in-meet updates can be found on Twitter via @TerpsGymnastics.

The Matchup
  • Maryland gymnastics hits the road and returns to action as they take on Temple, Brown, Penn and UNH at the Temple Quad in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Thursday, March 2 at 4 p.m. 
  • Last season Maryland had a strong meet at the Temple Quad inside McGonigle Hall on Thursday, Jan. 3, taking home first place with a score of 196.550.
  • Maryland comes into Thursday's meet after a strong showing at the Big Five meet on Friday, Feb. 24, placing fifth and posting a 194.475 team score.
  • Maryland gymnasts Maddie Komoroski and Emma Silberman each took home Big Ten Weekly Awards on Tuesday, Feb. 21 with Komoroski being named Co-Freshman of the Week and Silberman earning Co-Gymnast of the Week.

Positive Momentum
  • Maryland posted a 196.550-193.400 victory over Southern Connecticut State on Friday Feb. 17. Josephine Kogler and Madeline Komoroski each posted 9.900 to lead the Terps on beam, it was the second consecutive meet that both scored 9.900 or better.
  • Maryland set their season-high team score defeating Rutgers 196.875 - 196.325. on Saturday, Feb. 11.
  • The Terps set a new season high on floor against Rutgers, posting a 49.375, their highest score on the event since scoring a 49.400 on March 6, 2020. Three Terps, Alexa Rothenbuescher (9.925), Rhea LeBlanc (9.875) and Taylor Rech (9.825) set a new career high on the event. Emma Silberman also matched her career high earning a 9.900 her best score since the same meet on March, 6.
  • The Terps had one of their best bars rotation of 2023 against Ohio State, as the team posted a 49.250, as Aleka Tsiknias posted a season-high 9.925 on the event.
  • Senior Emma Silberman set a new career-high in the all-around against Ohio State scoring a 39.350. She finished top-three on the team on vault (9.825), beam (9.800), floor (9.825) and set her season high on bars with a 9.900.
  • Maryland kicked off their Big Ten schedule with a 195.875 - 195.325 victory over Nebraska. This win marked the fifth win all-time over the Cornhuskers and fourth in their last five matchups.
  • Freshman Maddie Komoroski scored a meet-high 9.875 to lead the Terps on beam while Emma Silberman and Alexsis Rubio both earned a team-high 9.875 on vault.
  • The Terps started the season by posting a 195.425, their second-highest opening weekend score in program history, collecting two wins against West Virginia and Kent State.
  • Graduate Student Alexsis Rubio posted the highest score of the WVU Tri-Meet with a 9.875 on vault
  • Maryland comes into the season with a veteran laden team, featuring 11 upper-classmen and 17 returning gymnasts.
  • The Terps will look to build on a 2022 season that ended with a third-place finish in the second round of the Raleigh Regional at Reynolds Coliseum. Maryland finished with 196.025 points, which is the highest team score it has ever posted at the NCAA Regionals.
  • Maryland finished sixth overall at the 2022 Big Ten Championship with a 196.450. This marked the Terps' highest overall score at the Big Ten Championship since joining the conference in 2014. Audrey Barber's all-around score of 39.350 tied for the highest total in the morning session.
  • Maryland enjoyed many incredible moments last season setting two top-five all-time team scores in 2022, including a 197.175 which marked the program's second highest score in history and secured a victory at Towson's Quad meet.

Nelligan at the Helm
  • Brett Nelligan enters his fourteenth season as head coach of the Terrapins in 2022-23 after taking the helm from his father Bob Nelligan on May 1, 2009.
  • The 2023 season marks 44 years with a Nelligan at the helm.
  • The two have combined to reach 26 total NCAA Regionals and have amassed over 700 wins.
  • In his tenure with the Terps, Brett Nelligan has brought in some of the top recruiting classes in program history and led the program to seven straight NCAA Regional appearances (2009-15).
  • Coach Nelligan has coached three All-Americans (Katy Dodds, Stephanie Giameo, and Audrey Barber) and was selected as the 2018 Big Ten Coach of The Year.
  • Under Brett Nelligan the Terps have repeatedly received recognition as one of the best academic teams in the nation, as 19 student athletes were named as Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Scholastic All-Americans in 2022.
