ATLANTA, GA – Maryland incoming freshman guard DeShawn Harris-Smith was named to the Jersey Mike's Naismith High School All-America Honorable Mention team as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club today.
Harris-Smith signed with the Terps during the November period and has been a star for Paul VI Catholic High School leading the Panthers this season to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship game.
The 6-foot-5 guard averaged nearly 17 points, seven rebounds, and six assists leading Paul VI to an undefeated regular-season.
A four-star recruit, Harris-Smith is the No. 1 prospect out of Virginia and ranks 32
nd nationally.
Harris-Smith along with fellow early signees Jahnathan Lamothe (Baltimore, MD) and Jamie Kaiser (Burke, VA) rank as the No. 14 overall class nationally. The trio make up the highest ranked class for the Terps since 2018 (7
th) and is the best DMV group since 2002 when Travis Garrison, John Gilchrist, and Chris McCray signed with Maryland.
As a junior, Harris-Smtih was the VISAAA Division I State Player of the Year after averaging 14.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.2 steals. He led Paul VI to the VISAA Division I State Championship title last season, while also playing for Team Takeover where he earned All-Tournament First Team honors at the Peach Jam.
