COLLEGE PARK, MD. - The University of Maryland softball team will head to Greenville, North Carolina for the Pirate Invitational this weekend. The Terps will kick off the weekend with a double header against Saint Joseph's and East Carolina on Friday. Maryland will go on to face Monmouth and Saint Joseph's on Saturday. The Terps will play against East Carolina on Sunday afternoon for the weekend finale. Sunday's game against East Carolina will be streamed on ESPN+.Max R. Joyner Family Stadium

THIS WEEK'S STORYLINES
scouting the foes
- East Carolina has opened up their season with a 12-3 record through their first 15 games. Their three losses this season have come against No. 11 Virginia Tech and Bucknell
- Saint Joseph's is off to a 2-7 start in the 2023 season. The Hawks have picked up two wins against Albany.
- Monmouth is 0-7 through their first seven games of the season. The Hawks have only played one tournament so far, hosted by Stetson on Feb. 17-19.

A perfect start
- Trinity Schlotterbeck threw a perfect game against Texas A&M Commerce in the first game of the Baylor Invitational last weekend
- The perfect game was the first for the program since 2013 and the 7th in program history
- Schlotterbeck finished the day with eight strikeouts

looking back to last weekend
- The Terps finished their weekend in Waco, Texas with a 2-3 record in the Baylor Invitational
- Maryland recorded a pair of wins against Texas A&M Commerce.
- With an 10-4 record, the Terps are off to their strongest start since the 2012 season.
- Trinity Schlotterbeck was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the program's first weekly honor of the 2023 season

fresh faces
- Maryland welcomes seven newcomers to the 2023 squad.
- Sammi Woods and Madison Runyan look to make an immediate impact for the Terps in the middle infield positions. Gracelyn Solarz and Sydney Lewis will also look to contribute to the team's success in the infield.
- Nicole Bodeux, Keria Bucher, Genevieve Ebaugh all come to Maryland after strong prep career's on the mound. The trio of new Terps will be mixed in with an experienced pitching rotation led by Courtney Wyche and Trinity Schlotterbeck.
