Where we are
- The Terps are coming off a dominant 22-4 win over William & Mary on Wednesday, which saw 11 different Terps score, with freshmen Kori Edmondson and Emma Muchnick leading the way with career-highs of four goals apiece.
- Edmondson has been on fire of late, scoring seven goals in the last two games. The No. 1 freshman in the country earned her first career start in the Terps last game.
- The Terps win prior to William & Mary was against No. 7 Florida, which saw Victoria Hensh score with 17 seconds left in regulation to give the Terps the win. Hensh scored three of her career-best four goals in the decisive fourth quarter as the Terps rallied from a 10-8 deficit in the fourth quarter. Libby May led the Terps with six goals.
- Libby May was named the IWLCA Offensive National Player of the Week after scoring six goals in back-to-back games against Drexel and No. 7 Florida. She was also named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, while Shaylan Ahearn was named the Big Ten Midfeilder of the Week after winning 20 draw controls over the two games.

50th Season of maryland women's lacrosse
- The 2023 season will be the 50th season of Maryland women's lacrosse, a program that has been the most successful in the entire sport since its start.
- Maryland has won 15 national championships and 31 conference championships. The Terps have participated in 28 Final Fours, including 12 of the last 13 and have won 12 of the last 28 national championships, including seven-straight from 1995-2001. Maryland has an all-time program record of 763-153-3 through 49 seasons.

- Emily Sterling returns as the National Goalkeeper of the Year to backline the Maryland defense in 2023. She finished the year second in the nation in both save percentage (.531) and goals against average (7.87) and had the highest save percentage ever in Big Ten play at .626.
- Sterling has 15 saves to only 12 goals allowed over the last two games, a .556 save percentage.
- Sterling was also the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year, an IWLCA First Team All-American, a Tewaaraton nominee, First Team All-Big Ten selection, a four-time National Player of the Week and five-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. The senior was chosen as the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason National Goaltender of the Year.

- In last week's game against Drexel, Shaylan Ahearn became only the sixth Terp in program history to surpass the 200 career draw control mark with 14. In the Terps game at #7 Florida, Ahearn past Dana Dobbie (2007-08) to move into fifth all-time in career draw controls at Maryland. Ahearn, who tallied 12 draw controls in the Terps last game over William & Mary, is now 26 draw controls behind Karri Ellen Johnson (2008-12) for fourth all-time in program history.
- Ahearn tallied 115 draw controls last season, the eighth-most in a single season in program history.
- Another Terp, Abby Bosco, is only five draw controls away from 200 in her career. 114 of those have come as a Terp, 81 at Penn, where she played from 2018-21.

- Reese and the Terps added one of the top transfers out of the portal for the 2023 season in 2022 Ivy League Defender of the Year Marge Donovan. The grad student was the Ivy League Defender of the Year, a Third Team IWLCA All-American, a First-Team All-Ivy selection and the Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2022 as she graduated as Princeton's all-time leader in career draw controls (214) and draws in a season (112 in 2022).
- Maryland also welcomes the nation's top freshmen class, highlighted by the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 Class, midfielder Kori Edmondson. The class also features top-10 ranked signees Jaylen Rosga and Maggie Weisman.

- Head Coach Cathy Reese enters her 17th season at the helm of Maryland women's lacrosse. The winningest coach in program history, Reese is 306-37 as head coach and has led the Terps to five National Championships, 12 Final Fours and 22 Conference Championships.
- Maryland is 160-6 at home under Reese, with nine undefeated home campaigns in the last 11 seasons (2013, '14, '15, '16, '17, '18, '19, '21).

history vs. villanova
- This is the second all-time meeting between Maryland and Villanova and the Terps first ever trip to visit the Wildcats in Pennsylvania.
- The Terps defeated Villanova, 19-7, in the first ever women's lacrosse game played inside Jones-Hill House last season. Aurora Cordingley racked up career-high tying totals of six goals, and five assists and set a career-high with 11 points in the game, the most points by a Terp since current volunteer assistant coach Alex Aust Holman had 11 in 2013.
