COLLEGE PARK, MD. - The University of Maryland softball team will open up its 2023 home slate this weekend as they host the Capital City Classic. The Terps begin their weekend with a double header against North Dakota and Texas Tech on Friday, followed by a pair of games against Bucknell and Texas Tech on Saturday. Maryland will wrap up the tournament against Rider in the weekend finale on Sunday at 1 pm. All games will be streamed on B1G+.Maryland Softball Stadium

- North Dakota has opened up their season with a 2-22 record through their first 24 games. Their two victories have come against Lindenwood and UPenn.
- Texas Tech is off to a 20-7 start in the 2023 season. The Red Raiders are coming off of a perfect 5-0 weekend in their home tournament, the Texas Tech Invitational
- Bucknell is 7-10 through their first 17 games of the season. This weekend at the Capital City Classic will be the Bison's sixth consecutive tournament on the road.
- Rider has begun their season with a 4-10 record through 14 games. The Broncos have recorded wins against Wagner, Cleveland State and Lamar

- Sammi Woods and Madison Runyan look to make an immediate impact for the Terps in the middle infield positions. Gracelyn Solarz and Sydney Lewis will also look to contribute to the team's success in the infield.
- Nicole Bodeux, Keria Bucher, Genevieve Ebaugh all come to Maryland after strong prep career's on the mound. The trio of new Terps will be mixed in with an experienced pitching rotation led by Courtney Wyche and Trinity Schlotterbeck.
