
Savacool, Big Bats Blast Albany, 18-3, In Series Opener

Jason Savacool dominated from the opening frame, earning his third win of the season. The junior threw seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits and striking out seven batters.
Three Terps hit homers in the win as Matt Woods went deep twice, giving him four homers in the last three games. He went 3-for-6 with four RBIs.
Eddie Hacopian and Bobby Zmarzlak went back-to-back in the seventh inning to break open the game. Hacopian went 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Zmarzlak scored three runs while going 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Nick Lorusso extended his hitting streak to 16 games as he went 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Eight of the Terps' starters had hits in the game. Matt Shaw drove in a pair. Luke Shliger went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Breaking Down The Action
- The Terps struck first in the bottom of the second, as a Lorusso stand up double into the right field gap scored Zmarzlak and Shaw to give Maryland an early 2-0 advantage.
- A Woods solo home run into deep right center gave the Terps another run in the bottom of the third inning, giving them a 3-0 lead.
- The following two frames were dominated by pitching as both teams produced scoreless innings, highlighted by Savacool's two strikeouts in the top of the sixth inning keeping the score 3-0 Terps.
- The Terps added to their lead in the bottom of the sixth as Shaw drove in two runs with a well placed double down the left field line, making it a 5-0 Maryland advantage.

Lorusso doubled in Shliger for the 14-0 score. Kevin Keister drove in Lorusso. Then Woods went deep for the second time to make it 18-0.
