COLLEGE PARK, MD. - The University of Maryland softball team continues their nine game homestand this weekend with a series against Penn State. The series will begin on Friday night with the series opener beginning at 6 pm. Saturday's game has been moved up to 11:30 am due to inclement weather. The series finale will be played on Sunday at noon. All three games will be streamed on B1G+.

scouting the foes
- Penn State has opened up its 2023 season with a 24-13 overall record and 5-9 in Big Ten play.
- The Nittany Lions are coming off of a series sweep over Rutgers. Penn State has also picked up single victories over Iowa and Minnesota.
- The Terps and Nittany Lions last met in the 2022 season in which Maryland came out with a 2-1 series win.

- The Terps are off to their best start in program history an overall record of 30-13
- Maryland has 25 home runs on the season so far, already surpassing their homerun total from the 2022 season of 17. Amelia Lech has been powering the offense with 12 of those home runs.
- Freshman pitcher Keira Bucher currently leads the nation in saves with 11 on the season. She is one save away from breaking the Big Ten all-time record.

- The Terps are coming off of a road series victory over Iowa. Maryland won both games in Friday's doubleheader before dropping the series finale on Saturday.
- Jaeda McFarland led the way for the Terps at the plate last week with an average of .375, recording three hits, two runs and an RBI.
- Maryland enters the Penn State weekend series with a 6-8 record in conference play after picking up a series win over Iowa.
