Late Maryland Comeback Falls Short In 10-8 Loss Against Purdue

The Terps fell into a 7-1 hole after Purdue scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning, a solo home run from Eddie Hacopian in the bottom-half cutting the score to 7-2, but after Purdue regained its six-run lead in the seventh, Maryland's offense woke up in a big way.
From six runs down, the Terps scored five runs in a rally that began when Matt Shaw was walked with the bases loaded, scoring Kevin Keister. Ian Petrutz followed with a two-run single, continuing his hot week, which cut the score to 8-5.
Hacopian and Elijah Lambros delivered the last two big hits of the inning, a RBI double and single, respectively, which turned a game that looked out of reach to a one-run game headed to the eighth.
Purdue exploded offensively, recording 16 hits along with its 10 runs. Five players had multi-hit games, including three-hit games from Paul Toetz and Evan Albrecht. Toetz also scored three runs in the game. CJ Valdez had himself a game for the Boilermakers, a two-hit day and a team-high three RBI thanks to a two-run double and a RBI single.
