Maryland initially trailed 2-0 after Rutgers put up a two-spot in the first after a RBI groundout from Josh Kuroda-Grauer and a bases loaded RBI walk to Hugh Pinkney. Maryland got a run back in the bottom-half of the inning after a RBI sacrifice fly from Kevin Keister, scoring Bobby Zmarzlak.
Zmarzlak scored to tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth, benefitting off an error from Scarlet Knights catcher Andy Axelson. Matt Shaw started the scoring in the sixth for the Terps, hitting his 40th career homer and 11th homer of the season, a solo shot to right-center field.
Jason Savacool recorded another quality start for Maryland, throwing 6.2 innings of three-run baseball, striking out three and giving up six hits.
