BATON ROUGE, LA. – The Maryland track and field squad had a strong showing at the Lloyd Willis Invitational this weekend, which included two 1st place finishes, five personal bests, and one season's best.
The day was highlighted by performances from Jeff Kline and Kayla Woods. Kline showed up big time in the men's shot put, throwing a whopping 18.91m (62-00.50"). This marked not only a new personal best for the junior, but the throw was good enough to win 1st place, and landed Kline at 2nd all-time at Maryland. Only Ian Pyka's throw of 19.80m (64-11.75") from 1979 was better than Kline's throw from today.
Kayla Woods also soared to a 1st place finish at the meet in the women's long jump. The graduate student from Wilmington, Delaware jumped a season's best 6.03m, putting her atop the podium.
