NEWARK, DE – No. 23 Maryland (31-15) extended its winning streak to eight games with a 19-7 win over Delaware (21-24) in Newark on Wednesday evening. With the Terps scoring 10 or more runs for the seventh straight game, its the first time in school history that they have won seven games in a row scoring 10+ runs.
Maryland hit a milestone during Wednesday's win as Nick Lorusso hit the 100th home run of the season for the Terps, the second-straight season that the Terps have reached the mark. Lorusso's home run was a solo shot in the top of the fourth inning, his 17th of the season.
The home run tied his RBI total from last year of 70, which is currently fourth all-time for a single season in Maryland history. He broke his own single-season RBI total with the Terps at 71 after an RBI double in the top of the eighth inning. He had a four-hit night and now has 32 career home runs and 141 career RBI as a Terp.
Ian Petrutz, who opened up the scoring on Wednesday after being walked with the bases loaded, added onto his RBI total with a three-run home run in the top of the eighth, his 12th home run of the season.

Aside from one run scored in the fourth inning, Maryland put up two different seven-run innings on Wednesday, a seven-spot to open up the game in the first inning and another seven-spot in the top of the eighth inning to go up 15-7. Maryland recorded 17 hits in the win, with seven players having mutli-hit games, seven scoring two or more runs and six with multi-RBI games.
Petrutz finished with two hits, three runs scored and four RBI.
Elijah Lambros continued his hot hitting with a three-hit, three-RBI game, scoring twice. It was his third-straight game of three hits or more.
Jacob Orr had four RBI on the night, tied with Petrutz for the most on the team, recording two hits and scoring twice.
It was a history-making day for the Terps and for catcher Luke Shliger, who scored two runs on Wednesday and remains second in the country with 72 runs scored. He moved into a tie with Chris Alleyne for second in career runs scored in program history. Kevin Keister had three hits of his own, driving in two with two doubles and a run scored. Shliger also drove in three runs, his 13th multi-RBI game of the season. He's driven in two or more runs in six of his last seven games.
Ryan Van Buren had a career day on the mound, giving up two runs and one earned run in five innings of work, giving up five hits. His five innings on the mound are a career-high.
