No. 5 Terps Fall In Final Minute To Princeton, 3-2

Box Score COLLEGE PARK, MD – The No. 5 Terps (6-2) lost in heartbreaking fashion on Thursday afternoon as the Princeton Tigers (2-3) scored in the final minute of play to claim a 3-2 win.

The Terps rebounded from an early 2-0 deficit to tie the game at two apiece early in the third quarter. Freshman Maci Bradford scored both of Maryland's goals. 

With 34 seconds left to play and the two teams tied at 2-2, the Tigers earned and converted a penalty corner. 

Maryland outshot Princeton 23-11 and earned eight corners to the Tigers' three. 

Breaking Down The Action
  • After a scoreless opening frame for both sides, Princeton scored two goals in the second quarter. 
  • The Terps broke the ice with under a minute remaining in the first half as freshman Maci Bradford scored a diving goal that got just past the keeper off an assist from Hannah Boss.
  • Maryland got the equalizer a few minutes into the third, again off the stick of Bradford who slapped it into the top left corner of the goal.
  • Princeton earned a penalty corner with 34 seconds remaining in regulation. The Tigers capitalized to find the winner,
