Maryland Continues Road Stretch Against No. 7 Ohio State on Friday

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland looks to turn its fortunes around when it heads to Columbus, Ohio on Thursday to play the No. 7 Ohio State Buckeyes at 7 PM at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

The game against Ohio State is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 p.m. on B1G+. The match against Illinois is slated for a 3:00 p.m. ET kickoff and will also be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
 
Series History - Ohio State
  • Maryland is winless against the Buckeyes in 12 all-time meetings. The Buckeyes lead the series 10-0-2, but both ties have come in Columbus.
  • The two schools met once prior to becoming conference foes in 2014. In 2012, the No. 17 Terrapins played at Ohio State on August 26 and dropped a 1-0 contest despite controlling the majority of play and nearly doubling the Buckeyes in shots, 19-10.
Ava Morales
Maryland and Ohio State met last season on Sept. 24 in College Park. The Terps and the Buckeyes remained scoreless in a tight defensive battle, until Ohio State scored in the 90th minute.
Ringing the Bell Twice
  • Kennedy Bell's two-goal performance in the Terps' 4-0 win over VCU on Sept. 8 was the first time a Terp scored twice in a game since Lisa McIntyre scored twice against James Madison on Aug. 27, 2023.
  • Bell opened the scoring in the 5th minute, finishing a scramble inside the 8-meters. She added her second of the day less than two minutes later on a breakaway off of a beautifully paced through ball from Peyton Bernard.
  • Bell is the first Terp to score twice in the first half of a match since teammate Ava Morales found the net twice in the opening 45 minutes at Purdue on Oct. 23, 2022.

Kennedy Bell scored a brace in Maryland's 4-0 win against VCU on Sept. 8. Bell was the first Terp to score twice in the first half of a match since teammate Ava Morales found the net twice in the opening 45 minutes at Purdue on Oct. 23, 2022.
Olimpico!
  • Emily Lenhard got on the scoresheet in a big way in Maryland's 1-1 draw with James Madison on Aug. 25. Lenhard took a corner for the Terrapins in the 83rd minute, scoring from the corner spot for an Olimpico. The goal was the first of her collegiate career, and came on her lone shot of the game.
  • Lenhard has played in 11 games and made eight starts for the Terps in 2024. Lenhard also leads the Terps with three assists on the season.. The first-year player from Stafford, Virginia is sixth on the team in minutes played with 757, and is averaging 68 minutes played in 2024.
Dishing Out The Assists
  • Maryland has 11 assists on the season, and are led by Emily Lenhard who has three. Following Lenhard is the trio of Kennedy Bell, Ellie Egeland, and Ava Morales who all have\ two assists through the team's first eight games.
  • Lenhard picked up two assists in Maryland's game against George Mason, which is the first time in almost two years that a Maryland women's soccer player picked up two assists in a game. The last player to accomplish the feat was Catherine DeRosa, who had two assists back on September 4, 2022 against George Mason.
  • Ava Morales picked up her first collegiate assist this season, coming Maryland's 2-0 season-opening win over Lehigh. Morales picked up her second assist of the campaign against Stony Brook back on August 18.
Emily Lenhard
Emily Lenhard leads the Terps with three assists. Lenhard had two assists in Maryland's game against George Mason, which was the first time in almost two years the a Terp had two assists in a game.
Going Back-To-Back
  • With her 22nd minute goal against Towson on Sept. 5, Taryn Raibon scored in consecutive games for the Terps. Raibon's two goals this season are tied for the second-most on the team with Kelsey Smith and Delaney DeMartino.
  • The last time a Terp scored in consecutive games was last season, when Ava Morales scored in third-straight games. Morales' streak last season Sept. 3 against Towson, and continued with goals against George Mason (Sept. 7, 2023) and at Binghamton (Sept. 10, 2023).
Taryn Raibon
Taryn Raibon has scored in consecutive games for the Terps against George Mason and Towson. This marked the second season in a row that a Terps player scored in consecutive games.
Scouting the Buckeyes
  • Ohio State is 8-1-3 overall this season and currently ranked No. 7 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25. At 3-0-2 in the Big Ten, the Buckeyes are one of six unbeaten teams still remaining in the conference.
  • The Buckeyes are 2-0-2 in their last four matches with a pair of 2-1 wins over Northwestern (Sept. 22) and Michigan (Sept. 29) and ties with then No. 18 Iowa (1-1, Sept. 19) and No. 1 Michigan State (2-2, Sept. 26).
  • Kailyn Dudukovich leads Ohio State and is third in the nation with 11 goals on the year. She also ranks fourth in the nation in total points (23) and leads the country with six game-winning goals. Ten Buckeyes have notched assists in 2024 with Amanda Schlueter leading the team with five. Molly Pritchard has started all 12 matches in net and has a 0.67 goals-against average with three solo and five combined shutouts.
