Jahmir Young Named To AP All-Big Ten Team

After being named to the All-Big Ten First Team, Maryland guard Jahmir Young added a spot on the Associated Press All-Big Ten Second Team as announced Tuesday afternoon.

In addition to being named to the All-Big Ten First Team by the media, Young was also selected to the second team by the coaches and named as Maryland's Sportsmanship Award honoree.

Young led the Terps with 20.8 points per game during the regular season which ranked third in the Big Ten and 22nd nationally. His 2,597 career points are second-most among all active NCAA players. He posted a career-best 623 points this year which ranks 15th all-time for a single-season at Maryland. He is just the fifth player in Maryland history to reach 1,000 points in two seasons and the third fastest to do so needing just 57 games.

His 20.8 points per game this year is tied for 9th in a single-season for program history, while his 18.1 point per game average over two years is fifth-best all-time at Maryland for a career. After having posted 1,421 points at Charlotte, he became just the sixth player since 2006 to score 1,000 points at two different institutions.

Young posted 18 20-point games this year along with three 30-point efforts. His career-high 37 points in the win at UCLA and his 36 points at Northwestern are the top-two individual scoring performances in the league this year.

Young earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors in 2023 where he was also a two-time All-District selection.
