COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Maryland baseball program heads into another midweek contest as it faces Towson on the road. The Terrapins are coming off a series win at home over Illinois, who currently stands in first place in the Big Ten. The meeting between the Terps and the Tigers will be the first since the 2022 season. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m., with the game being streamed on FloBaseball and airing on the Maryland Baseball Network
Where We Are
- Maryland (28-17) comes into the contest after a 3-1 week which culminated in a series win over Illinois..
- After dropping the first game of the series 7-4, the Terps came back with consecutive victories 9-8 on Saturday and 11-7 on Sunday.
- In game one, the Terps fell behind 7-2, but attempted a late comeback in the ninth with two, two-out runs to cut the deficit to three. The Terps would come up short in the game as they took the 7-4 loss.
- In game two, the two programs would score 14 runs in the first four innings. The Terps would lead by an 8-6 scoreline until the seventh when they added a run on an RBI double by Eddie Hacopian. Illinois would get two runs in the eighth and get the tying run on second with one out in the ninth, but Logan Berrier would get back-to-back strikeouts to secure the win.
- In game three, the Terps offense continued to score early on jumping out to a 7-1 lead after three innings. Illinois would close the deficit to one in the top of the eighth, but a three-run home run by Sam Hojnar created the insurance needed to get the series win for the Terps.

About The Tigers
- Towson (10-33) enters this match-up after dropping a conference series against Delaware. Towson dropped the first game of the series 9-7. Towson scored a run in the bottom of the ninth, but came up on the wrong end to open the series.
- Towson dropped the final two games of the series in a pair of offensive battles, losing game two 15-8 and game three 16-7.
- Elijah Dickerson leads the Tigers in batting average and hits, with the redshirt senior holding a .335 batting average and 57 hits on the year. Bryce Frederick leads the team in home runs and RBI on the season with eighth and 31 respectively.
- Three pitchers are tied for the team lead in wins, as Max Simpson, Justin Rebok, and Jake Michel each have two wins in 2024. Bobby Spencer leads the Tigers' pitching staff with a 2.70 ERA.
Steady Eddie
- Junior Eddie Hacopian has seen his average increase in the last couple of weeks. Hacopian's average sits at .397, which is the fourth best average in the Big Ten. Hacopian's batting average also ranks in the top 40 in the nation this season, while his 69 hits on the year are tied for the 15th-most in Division I and tied for second in the Big Ten.
- Hacopian has hits in 25 of his last 27 games, where he has a batting average of .423 with six homers, 24 RBI, with an on base percentage of .504.
- Hacopian had a hitting streak of 11 games snapped in the first game of their series against Nebraska over the weekend. The 11-game hitting streaked tied the longest for a Terrapin this season, with Elijah Lambros having an 11-game hitting streak earlier this season.
- In addition to his high average, Hacopian gets on base at a high clip as well. The junior infielder has an on base percentage of .495 which is the fifth-best in the conference, as evident by his 31 walks to only 23 strikeouts on the season.
Eddie Hacopian has been swinging a hot bat of late for the Terps. The junior has hits in 25 of his last 27 games, where he is hitting for a .423 average with six homers and 24 RBI.

- One of the bright spots in the bullpen for the Terps has been Longwood transfer Logan Berrier. The redshirt senior has a 7-1 record with four saves, a 2.70 ERA, 34 strikeouts, in 36 innings across 16 appearances.
- Berrier's seven wins on the season are tied for the18th-most in Division I and tied for the most in the Big Ten.
- Berrier began the season with a 7-0 record, becoming the first Terps pitcher to start a season with a record of 7-0 or better since Kansas City Royals prospect Ryan Ramsey began the 2022 season with a 10-0 record.
Logan Berrier has had a strong start to his Terrapins career. The righty leads the team with a 7-1 record and has a 2.70 ERA. Berrier's seven wins are tied for the 18-most in Division I this season.
You Only Need One
- A team with a penchant for the dramatic, the Terrapins currently hold a 12-3 record this season in one-run games. The 12 wins the Terps have this season is a program record for wins in one-run games in a single-season.
- The Terps added their fourth walk-off win on Sunday in a 6-5 win over Indiana. This was their second walk-off of the week, with the other coming in in their 13-12 win over UMBC on April 3. The other two walk-offs for the Terps came in their Big Ten opening series against Michigan State where they got wins of 7-6 on March 22 and 5-4 on March 24.

- Chris Hacopian has been a mainstay in the Maryland lineup for the entire season. The freshman infielder has started in 44 games this season, hitting for a .328 average with 11 home runs and 34 RBI.
- Hacopian is beginnning to climb up the program record books for a freshman. The most recent being his 11 home runs this season. Hacopian's 11 home runs are the fourth-most in a freshamn season, and the most since Maxwell Costes' 15 home runs in 2019.

Chris Hacopian has been an important piece of the Terrpains' season, and is starting to make his way up the Maryland freshman lists. Chris hit his 11th home run of the season in Maryland's 11-7 win over Illinois on April 28, and now sits fourth in program history for home ruins as a freshman.
