SPARKS, MD -- The fourth season of the Athletes Unlimited Professional Women's Lacrosse League is set to begin on Thursday, July 18. Maryland women's lacrosse will be represented by eight former Terps. The season will run from July 18 - August 11 at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, MD.

Meghan Ball ('24), Abby Bosco ('23), Lizzie Colson ('21), Marge Donovan ('23), Megan Douty ('15), Erica Evans ('19), Grace Griffin ('22) and Emily Sterling ('24) all signed with the league to play over the summer as part of the 56-player roster. 

Colson, Douty, Griffin, Bosco, Donovan and Evans are all back for another year while Ball and Sterling were drafted for the 2024 season back in May. 

Maryland has the second-most players in the league, only trailing North Carolina (10). 

Three-time Tewaaraton winner Taylor Cummings won the league in its first season in 2021, earning the most points throughout the season. In 2022, Colson finished in eighth place with 1,348 points, the highest of any defender in the league. Last season, Bosco became the first defender in league history to earn a medal and was named the AU Pro Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year with 19 caused turnovers, 41 draw controls, and 24 ground balls.

The league will continue its unique format with new teams being drafted every week. The top four players become captains each week and draft their teams from scratch for following week's games. In the scoring system, every player can lose or win points during every game. Athletes score points as individuals and as a team to win MVP titles and cash bonuses.

The games will begin Thursday, July 18 on ESPNU with Team Glynn taking on Team Apuzzo at 5:00 p.m. and Team Moreno taking on Team Bosco at 7:30 p.m. There will be games on the ESPN Family of Networks all weekend long. Rosters will reset each week and games will be played over the weekends, all at USA Lacrosse Headquarters.

Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse will play a short form, fast-paced format consisting of 10-minute quarters, 10 vs. 10 gameplay, and a 60-second shot clock on a 90-yard x 60-yard playing field. Play begins with a draw at the beginning of each quarter and after every goal.
