COLLEGE PARK, MD --Â Maryland Field Hockey will challenge some of the nation's toughest opponents in 2024, as the Terps announced their fall schedule on Tuesday.
The Terps will face 11 opponents ranked in last year's final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches poll, including seven who finished in the top-10.

"This ensures an exciting brand of Hockey to prepare us for the Big Ten and a deep run in the NCAA tournament. Paris Olympian Emma DeBerdine returns to the midfield with five Team USA Jr. Pan American teammates. Maryland will showcase the fast, fiery and emotionally explosive style that suits our pace here in College Park."
Maryland will open the regular season schedule with two home games against Louisville (Aug.30) and Drexel (Sept. 1).Â
The Terps will then travel to Evanston, Illinois for the 9th annual B1G/ACC Challenge hosted by Northwestern. Maryland will take on Boston College (Sept. 6) and Duke (Sept. 8) at Lakeside Field.Â

Maryland will host the 28th annual Terrapin Invitational the following weekend, welcoming Virginia, Lock Haven and American University to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex for the event from Sept. 13-15. The Terps will play Virginia (Sept. 13) with American and Lock Haven competing the same day. On day two of the Terrapin Invitational, Maryland will take on Lock Haven (Sept. 15), with American and Virginia also playing on the final day.
Maryland will end its four-game home stand by matching up with Rutgers (Sept. 20) and Northwestern (Sept. 27). Northwestern and Maryland will face off in a rematch of last season's thrilling Big Ten Championship game in which Northwestern won in double OT.Â

The Terps will then hit the road for three consecutive games facing Big Ten opponents Indiana (Oct. 4), Iowa (Oct. 6) and Michigan State (Oct. 11).

Maryland will head back to College Park for a three-game home stand facing off against American (Oct. 14), Ohio State (Oct. 18) and Michigan (Oct. 20). The American Eagles finished the 2023 season with their 13th Patriot League title and qualified for the NCAA tournament for the 11th time in program history.
The Terps will hit the road five days later, for a single game road swing against regional opponent Princeton (Oct. 25). Maryland would be defeated by Princeton last year 3-2 in College Park.Â
Maryland will then return to College Park for the final home game of the season. The Terps will close out the home schedule with a matchup against Richmond (Oct. 27).Â
Maryland will close out the regular season with a clash against 2022 NCAA Finalist Penn State (Nov. 1) in State College, Pa. The Terps claimed a 4-2 victory over Penn State last season in College Park.
The Big Ten Tournament will be held November 6-10 in College Park, Maryland. The NCAA Regional Tournament will take place November 15-17. The National Semifinals and Championship will be played November 15-24 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
All home games will be played at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex. Admission is free for all home games and parking information will be posted prior to each game.
