
Terps Win Salisbury Fall Classic To Open Season

Maryland takes top-three finishes and places four runners in the top 10.
SALISBURY, MD – A 1-2-3 sweep paced Maryland in its opening race of the year as the Terps took the team title at the Salisbury Fall Classic on Saturday at Winter Place Park. Rose Coats was the first to cross the finish line followed by Eva Rogers and Katie Turk.
Maryland finished the race with a top score of 24 points followed by Johns Hopkins (53) and Seton Hall (85).
Along with the top trio, Katie Altieri finished seventh as the fourth runner among the top 10 for Maryland.
For Coats, the individual win was the first of her cross country career after having two top-3 finishes last year as a freshman. Rogers took second in her first collegiate race. Coats, Katie Turk, and Emma Lorey all ran personal-best times for a 6K race.

Coach Valmon's Thoughts: "Starting the season off with a win was a great way to build momentum. The team showed their fitness and commitment early on. Coach Siebert had the ladies prepared and they will continue to chip away as we progress forward to build on last season's results."
Up Next: Maryland will have next week off before heading to State College, PA to run in the Penn State Spike Shoe Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13.
