COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Maryland men's soccer team continues its journey through Big Ten play as they hit the road for a match-up with Indiana. Kickoff for the game is slated for 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.

In their last game, the Terrapins opened conference action with a 3-0 win at home over #8 Wisconsin. The Terps opened the scoring with a 17th minute goal from Chris Steinleitner, his first goal as a Terp. Just two over two minutes after halftime, the Terps added their second goal of the game on a header by Bjarne Thiesen at the back post. The final goal of the contest was scored by Colin Griffith on a curling effort from just outside the box. Max Rogers assisted all three goals in the game, making it the second consecutive year that a Terp had three assists in the game.

Scouting the Hoosiers
  • Indiana enters the contest with a 2-2-3 record. The Hoosiers opened conference play with a win of their own, defeating Rutgers on the road 1-0. The Hoosiers out shot the Scarlet Knights 13-7, finding the winner in the 87th minute on a Tommy Mihalic goal. Indiana played to a 1-1 draw with Evansville on Tuesday, getting a 31st minute goal from Samuel Sarver to open the scoring. Evansville would get the equalizer in the 73rd minute. Indiana had the clear advantage in shots, out-shooting Evansville 20-6.
  • Mihalic leads the Hoosiers with four goals on the campaign, which is tied for the third-most in the Big Ten. Sarver holds the team lead in assists with two, followed by four fellow Hoosiers with one each.
  • JT Harms leads the Hoosiers in goal, as the senior keeper has started in front of the net for all seven of the Hoosiers games. Harms' 18 saves are tied for the fourth-most in the conference, while allowing just seven goals on the season. Harms has a GAA of 1.14 and has been in goal for two clean sheets.

  • This will be the 22nd all-time meeting between the Terps and the Hoosiers. The Hoosiers hold the slight advantage over the Terps in the series, with a record of 8-5-8. The two programs met last season, with Indiana taking a 2-1 win in College Park.
  • Both defenses kept both offenses in check, with neither scoring in the first half. Indiana got on the board first in last season's meeting, scoring in the 54th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Stefan Copetti tied the game for the Terps with a goal in the 69th minute finishing a ball at the front post. Indiana would find the final goal in the 83rd minute in the victory.

BIG TEN Offensive Player of the Week
  • Following a three assist performance in a 3-0 win over Wisconsin, Terrapins' forward Max Rogers was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Rogers had a hand in all three goals for the Terps in their conference-opening win over Wisconsin. Rogers got his first assist in the game in the 17th minute, whipping a corner kick into the box to set up Chris Steinleitner for his first goal in a Maryland uniform. His second assist came just after halftime, delivering a free kick to the back-post for Bjarne Thiesen to double the Terps lead at 2-0. Rogers' final assist came in the 53rd minute, finding Colin Griffith in space for a shot just outside of the box.
  • This marks the second consecutive season a Terps player had three assists in a game, with Luke van Heukelum picking up three assists in Maryland's win over Villanova on Oct. 10, 2023. van Heukelum's three assist performance last year also resulted in the last Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor for the Terps.
  • Rogers currently has five assists on the campaign, which is tied for the most in the Big Ten and tied for the fourth-most in the nation.

Going Back-to-Back
  • With a 53rd minute goal in Maryland's 3-0 win over Wisconsin, Colin Griffith scored in his second consecutive game. Griffith scored the lone goal in Maryland's 1-1 draw with San Diego State on Sept. 9.
  • This was the second time in his career that Griffith scored in consecutive games. Griffith last scored goals in back-to-back games on Nov. 4, 2022, against Northwestern and Nov. 9, 2022, against Indiana.

Griffith had his second consecutive game with a goal in Maryland's 3-0 win over Wisconsin. This marked the second time in his career that Griffith had back-to-back games with a goal, which occurred Nov. 4, 2022, against Northwestern and Nov. 9, 2022, against Indiana.
Kalm, Koehl, Kollected
  • Sophomore Leon Koehl has scored two goals this season, with both of them coming from the penalty spot. Koehl's effectiveness from the spot is much appreciated for the Terps, after the squad failed to convert on all four of their opportunities in 2023.
  • Koehl becomes the first Terp to have two or more penalty kick goals in a single-season since 2022, when Malcolm Johnston converted on four penalty kicks.
  • Koehl has scored from the spot in consecutive games for the Terps, with penalty kick goals against Virginia on Sept. 2 against Virginia and Sept. 6 against Brown. Koehl also joins Johnston, who scored penalty kick goals in consecutive games in the 2022 season vs. Virginia on Sept. 5, 2022 and at Georgetown on Sept. 10 2022.
