COLLEGE PARK, MDÂ --Â Maryland closes out its three-game road streak on Thursday as they face Towson. This is the second consecutive year the two teams have met, with Maryland getting a 1-0 win over Towson last season.

The Terrapins played its second-straight road game as they faced George Mason on September 1. It was a competitive contest on both sides, but Maryland came out on the wrong end of a 3-2 score line. Maryland got the scoring started early, as Taryn Raibon scored her first collegiate goal in the 14th minute. Katie Coyle added to the Terps lead in the 33rd minute, scoring from just outside the area to make it 2-0. George Mason would get a goal just before the half, making it 2-1. George Mason would get a pair of goals in the second half, taking the lead in the 84th minute on a headed goal.
Series History - Towson
- The Terrapins and the Tigers have met nine times in the all-time series, with the Terps holding a 7-0-2 record. The Terps and the Tigers met last season in College Park, with the Terps coming out with a 1-0 win.
- Both defenses remained scoreless in the first half of the 2023 match-up. The game remained at a 0-0 draw until the 52nd minute, when Kennedy Bell raced down the left flank and put in a low driving cross to Ava Morales. Morales directed the ball towards goal to give the Terps the lead. Lisa Beardsley made a pair of second half saves to help secure the win.
Kennedy Bell got the start and had the assist to set up the game-winning goal in Maryland 1-0 win over Towson last season. The assist for Bell was the first of her collegiate career.
Shot Stopper
- Liz Beardsley continues to be strong in goal for the Terps. Beardsley has made 22 saves this season, which leads the Big Ten. Beardsley has also been in goal for two shutouts, which is tied for the fourth-most in the Big Ten.
- Beardsley was a key force in goal for the Terps during the 2023 season. Beardsley made 67 saves in 2023 for the Terps. Beardsley helped lead the team to six shutouts last season. Her six shutouts a season ago were the most for a Maryland goalkeeper since 2014.
Liz Beardsley has been impressive in goal for the squad so far this season. Beardsley has 22Â saves to start the season, which is the most in the Big Ten.
Olimpico!
- Emily Lenhard got on the scoresheet in a big way in Maryland's 1-1 draw with James Madison on Aug. 25. Lenhard took a corner for the Terrapins in the 83rd minute, scoring from the corner spot for an Olimpico. The goal was the first of her collegiate career, and came on her lone shot of the game.
- Lenhard has played and started in all six of the Terps matches in 2024. Lenhard is tied for second on the team lead with one goal. The first year player from Stafford, Virginia is third on the team in minutes played with 469, and is averaging 78 minutes played across the six games.
Dishing Out The Assists
- Maryland has five assists on the season, and are led by a pair of players who each have two assists. Ava Morales and Emily Lenhard both have two assists through the team's first six games.
- Lenhard picked up two assists in Maryland's most recent game against George Mason, which is the first time in almost two years that a Maryland women's soccer player picked up two assists in a game. The last player to accomplish the feat was Catherine DeRosa, who had two assists back on September 4, 2022 against George Mason.
- Ava Morales picked up her first collegiate assist this season, coming Maryland's 2-0 season-opening win over Lehigh. Morales picked up her second assist of the campaign against Stony Brook back on August 18.
Ava Morales is tied for the team lead with two assists. Morales' first assist of the season came in the season-opener against Lehigh, which was also her first collegiate assist.
Scouting the Tigers
- Towson comes into the game with a record of 2-2-2. The Tigers are coming off a 1-1 draw against the Florida Gators. Towson evened the game in the 89th minute on a goal by Maja Hansson. Towson held the slight advantage in shots in the game, out-shooting the Gators by a tally of 9-7.
- Sophie Thibeault leads the team with three goals, which is the third-most in the CAA. Next is Malin Bernt Schöps who has two goals on the season. Three players are tied for the team lead with two assists. The trio of Sydney Feiler, Courtney Butlion, and Chiara Mengatti are all tied for the sixth-most assists in their CAA.
- In goal Riley Melendez leads the team with 29 saves and has played every minute for the team. Melendez's 29 saves are the most in the CAA and rank in the top 25 nationally. Melendez has two shutouts so far this season, which are the third-most in the CAA. Melendez was named first team All-CAA a season ago and took home CAA Goalkeeper of the Year honors after having a GAA of 0.56 and making 61 saves.
